Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Solid wood flooring is made from boards entirely of the same wood, with or without tongue and groove, based on dimensions. Pre-fabricated floor boards are an evolution of wooden floors: in this case, Itlas greatly improves dimensional stability by offering a two or three-layer board where the solid wood top layer is stabilized by a layer of birch plywood for Legni del Doge. For very large boards, such as Tavole del Piave and Assi del Cansiglio, a third layer of solid poplar wood is added. This system is a registered industrial invention.

This is a coating that can also be colored with dyes depending on the product. This coating preserves the natural appearance and texture of the wood. It also places the products in category A1 (highest rating) in the "French Label" certification regarding the reduction of indoor pollution.

Itlas has a certification and verification system to ensure technical and environmental specifications and reduce indoor pollution. Only products made entirely in Italy can be this perfect. Itlas products are characterized by a base always covered with birch plywood for Legni del Doge wood, and birch plywood plus a layer of solid poplar wood for Tavole del Piave and Assi del Cansiglio woods. The layers are glued together using D3 class vinyl adhesive.

Formaldehyde is harmful to human health and is often used to accelerate production processes involving gluing, reducing costs. Over time, even concentrations that fall within the minimum allowed by CE standards can be harmful. For this reason, Atlas does not use adhesives or varnishes containing formaldehyde. Our French Class A label certification guarantees this.

The term "certification" is used generally, but applying for it includes results of specific tests conducted on samples sent to specialized laboratories. These are the basic conditions for obtaining certification, where the accredited body certifies the product (or company, depending on the type of certification) after examining the product and the manufacturing company's facilities, approving them, and setting up a periodic monitoring program.

As confirmed by studies in the construction sector, wood is considered the optimal material for flooring and cladding due to its natural origin, insulating properties, high stability, natural treatment, and low deformation with temperature changes. The use of wood makes homes more comfortable and cozy.

The dimensional stability of wooden floors is measured in the laboratory using the standard UNI EN 1910 test, which shows how and to what extent wood changes with varying ambient humidity and temperature. Atlas floors guarantee better results than traditional wooden floors, thanks to the type of materials used - a layer of plywood and vinyl adhesives.

The characteristics of the materials used in Atlas wooden floors and their manufacturing method ensure that they can be used in bathrooms and kitchens with the same dimensional stability and ease of cleaning.

When using underfloor heating, it is essential to install wooden floors that ensure adhesion strength, flexibility, and stability. Legni del Doge, Assi del Cansiglio, and Tavole del Piave are designed and manufactured from the finest materials to ensure high performance in all conditions. Wood is a comfortable material at ambient temperatures, thanks to its insulating properties and heat retention capacity, unlike tiles or stone.

Our wooden floors are treated with a water-based finish, and in some cases, their surface is reshaped. The result is a beautiful natural appearance that reflects quality. It is also important that the wooden floor resists daily wear and tear, which enhances its beauty, as is often the case in old buildings.

Atlas advises its customers to first remove dust regularly, then clean the surface with a well-wrung damp cloth moistened with water and a neutral cleaner. Atlas offers its customers a complete range of cleaning products specifically designed for wooden floor maintenance. In fact, wooden floors should not be washed with water alone, as this does not ensure effective cleaning and, more importantly, releases mineral deposits on the wood surface.
